Meet the Team

Joanna Goddard

Founder & Editor

In 2001, Joanna moved from Michigan to New York City with an English degree and love of magazines. After spending an accidental year in law school, she wrote and edited for many magazines, including Glamour and New York. (Her favorite story featured New Yorkers who wore only one color.) In 2007, Joanna launched Fashion Melange as a weekend hobby, but then developed it into the award-winning daily website it is today — with a deeply engaged readership, thought-leading essays, and a diverse team of writers, photographers and contributors. She lives with her two chatty kids in Brooklyn. Email her at or find her on Instagram.

Maureen Heffernan

Partnerships & Growth Director

Shortly after college, Maureen moved to New York to pursue a career in digital marketing, despite her parents’ skepticism that people would ever “buy stuff on the internet.” Since then she has helped grow online sales at companies like L’Oreal and Madewell. Before joining Fashion Melange, she was driving traffic and maximizing ROI on the performance marketing team at J.Crew. Maureen lives in Seattle with her husband, daughter and cat. You can reach out to her for partnership and affiliate opportunities at or say hello on Instagram.

Jannelle Sanchez

Associate Editor

Jannelle has always loved talking to people and hearing their stories. After graduating with a journalism degree, she wrote on the marketing teams of various tech companies. But she would always find time to write for her personal blog, Kinsisters, which features personal essays, travel recommendations and life realizations. In November 2021, she began working for Fashion Melange and quickly become an invaluable part of the team. Jannelle lives in the Bay Area with her husband and daughter. Say hello at or follow her on Instagram.

She has won essay prizes from Fourth Genre and Prairie Schooner, and her work was listed as notable in the 2017 Best American Essays and 2018 Pushcart Prize anthologies. She lives with her spouse and two kids in western Washington, where she enjoys hanging out at the beach and taking family bike rides. Get in touch at or find her on Instagram.

Christine Han

Christine first picked up a camera at age nine, but it wasn’t until many years after college that she realized that photography was it. She is now a commercial and editorial photographer specializing in lifestyle, portraits and food, with clients such as Pepsi, Shake Shack, The Kitchn and of course, Fashion Melange. Her work has taken her all over the world, as far as India and Uganda. When photographing people, especially women, she loves to draw out their inherent beauty and be at ease. She is always drawn to beautiful light and real connection. You can see her work here and on Instagram.

Jenny Rosenstrach

Food Columnist

Jenny is the creator of Dinner: A Love Story, a blog based on the fundamental principle that sharing meals with the people you love — even if those people are less than 36 inches tall and aren’t eating what you’re cooking half the time — will infuse every day with meaning. She is the New York Times bestselling author of four cookbooks, including The Weekday Vegetarians. Jenny has written and edited for The New York Times, The NYT Book Review, Real Simple, Martha Stewart and Bon Appétit. She and her husband live in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Say hi at, subscribe to her newsletter, or follow her on Instagram.

Christine Pride

Race Matters Columnist

Christine wears many hats when it comes to writing and books. She’s had a 15-year career in book publishing — working as an editor at Doubleday, Hyperion and Simon and Schuster — where she’s published bestselling books such as From Scratch, Surviving the White Gaze and These Ghosts Are Family. In addition to her passion for championing other writers, she’s a novelist, too. Her debut, We Are Not Like Them, written with Jo Piazza, came out in 2021. She loves any chance to talk about race, friendship, books and television, preferably while eating French fries. You can reach her at or follow her on Instagram.
